LED Drivers Shouldn’t be Stacked on Top of Each Other
23 January 2018
When installing multiple MEAN WELL LED drivers, it is important that you don’t stack them on top of each other.
It is recommended that LED drivers be mounted side by side and that there is adequate spacing between the drivers to allow adequate cooling. MEAN WELL recommends a spacing of around 10 ~ 15cms.
If LED drivers are stacked on top of each other, the heat generated by the LED driver’s internal electronics cannot escape and the power supply over heats. This has the potential to cause a premature failure of the power supply, which wouldn’t be covered by the warranty.
When LED drivers are stacked on top of each other, the heat from the bottom LED driver cannot escape. Instead, the excess heat causes the LED driver on top to heat up faster than it otherwise would.
If you have any questions about the installation of MEAN WELL LED drivers, or MEAN WELL power supplies please do not hesitate to contact Power Supplies Australia on 1800 632 693.
