Important info about using Multi Rail Power Supplies

24 July 2019

Depending on the age of your MEAN WELL Multi-Rail power supply, you need to ensure all outputs have a load that falls within the stipulated current range shown in the data sheet.

Failure to do so will result in the power supply not working correctly.

The below table is an extract from the data sheet for the MEAN WELL RQ-125B power supply.  In the table you can see the current range for each of the outputs (channels). The load on each of the outputs must fall within the stipulated range.

Output table for Mean Well multi rail power supply

With this particular model output channel 4 is the only output that doesn’t need to have a load on it.

All others must have a suitable load on them in order for the power supply to work correctly.

This applies to all series of MEAN WELL power supplies listed in the below table, which were manufactured before the date shown.

The data sheets will be revised to show the new output current ranges.

MEAN WELL has made a physical change to the power supplies, so that customers can easily identify if they have a revised model, or one of the original versions.

Power Supplies Australia may have stocks available of the original versions of these power supplies for some months after the revision was made, so it is important to check which you have before installing.
